nice review, however
It looks like one of my readers decided to sign up for www.thewebcomiclist.com for the sole purpose of leaving me this insightful review for ClosetCoon. This has probably been there for years, but I just happened across it today. This is the only comment that this user has left anywhere on the site:"nice comic, however sometimes it takes up to 3 months to update a single strip, and the plot is boring."
* out of *****
It's fine if you don't like it. It's fine if you feel so strongly that it's a bad comic that you create an account just so you can tell everybody. But what gets me is that if the comic is so shitty that it gets the worst possible rating, why bother to start your review with "nice comic"? If by some freak chance he meant that the comic is "nice" except for points A and B, that is what the continuum of 1 to 5 stars is for. 1 to 5, not 1 or 5.
How about this equally logical review?"nice restaurant, however sometimes I get food poisoning and everything tastes disgusting."
It's a slice of life story, and life is boring. There are no mecha robot invasions, no lost cities of gold, and no time traveling to kidnap foxes from the past. There probably would be a robot invasion if I could draw robots well.
I don't mind if you criticize my work, but be logical about it! LOGICAL!!!!!!

More than half of the donations to ClosetCoon are from foreign countries, mostly in Europe and Australia. That's kind of cool! I feel like the mastermind of a global enterprise. (A joke.)

X-Posted from geddcoon
ClosetCoon will return from hiatus within the next few months. I plan to start posting new strips again before the year is out. I hope this makes some of you happy. :)

Has it really been five months since the last Closet Coon strip???
|Thursday, September 21st, 2006|
Hi guys! Finally I joined the closetcoon community, so I can start begging for updates with you XD... oh and by the way... what happened to aidecoco and colicoco strips? I can't load them anymore. Current Mood: 1.30 AM... must sleep...

What happened to Closet Coon? Been awhile since an update, went to check out the site and it's not working.

- Duma is the name of the cheetah character from my comic. Clip and I picked the name 'Duma' because it was the Swahili word for cheetah, not because of the recent WB film called 'Duma'. Incidentally, in the film, they named the cheetah 'Duma' for the same reason. Anyway, 'Duma' was a neat film if you like cheetahs. They make such wickedly cute sounds. It would have been better if the cheetah was the only actor. :)CC
- I posted the next page (55) of CC out-of-order... I'll go back and post page 54 as soon as it's finished by the guest artist. I just didn't want to ever take longer than the magical "two months". This is the first time I've drawn a strip since last September... that's a pretty long break!

I finally got around to posting the complete set of Finnish and Italian translations of ClosetCoon. It's a lot of work to keep up with all the translations floating around! ^_^
So Finnish, Russian, and Italian are up-to-date. French is off-line, but I know that FoxCoon is working on it. FoxCoon is making a kick-ass French page.
Japanese, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Danish have lapsed to various degrees. I think it's safe to say that the Japanese translator has lost interest... someone else is welcome to take over that job if they want to. Also, I would be happy to see a decent Chinese translation (traditional characters preferred). =)

Coconut musings (cross-posted)
There's been a lot of negative reaction to the latest coconut strip (#3, 2006)
I'm not sure if you realize it, but Aidecoco and Colicoco aren't exactly nice! They've been doing bad things since day 1. In Strip 1
, Colicoco is a raving drunken pedophile. In Strip 2
, Aidecoco is this total psycho mass-murderer guy. But when they call Dumaorange a freak in Strip 3, that is "too mean"? Color me confused as to why folks think Coconut Strip 3 is so much harsher than the other two.
But that's only part of it. Of course there's the abrupt change of tone (shock) and the crying orange sight gag. But I thought Coconut Strip 3 worked on a deeper level, like as a statement that those of us who seek tolerance from others often harbor our own intolerances and prejudices. Tell me this isn't true.
Anyway, the largely negative reaction to the Coconut Strip 3 has me a little bothered. Can those of you who ask for tolerance honestly tell me that you harbor absolutely no prejudices or biases of your own?
(And let's not mention that the strip was totally a joke and not supposed to be serious at all.) Current Mood: confused

Closetcoon release interval
So I've often been told that I haven't updated my comic strip in "over two months!!" I knew this to be wrong, but I wanted to show that graphically. Here is the time interval between comic strip updates. Only "real" comic strips are counted, the coconut ones and other un-numbered specials don't count. So far it has never hit the 2-month threshold.
The trendline shows a 4th-order polynomial fit (moving average might have been more useful, but it wasn't as pretty). The release times did get longer for the 2nd half of the strips, but they seem to be stabilizing around 1.4 months between strips. Anyway, just thought you might find that interesting.
Hopefully once we move it'll get a little better.

ClosetCoon is alive and well!
My comic, ClosetCoon
is sometimes praised for its storyline and non-sucky art. It's also widely-criticized for its extremely infrequent updates. I get advice from friends and fans saying that unless I update more often, fans will go elsewhere and my comic will die. Luckily this has not happened.
I'm happy to say that January 2006 has set a new record both for bandwidth and number of visits to the ClosetCoon web site! I hope 2006 will be a good year for the comic. Thanks to friends who are helping out through these transitional months. I hope someone will buy our house soon so I can confidently pick up the art torch again.
Thanks to all the comic's fans, I'm glad you're still enjoying it. ^_^

Procyon Lotor Cellae - Hostis Mei Hostis
Another not-so-great Latin translation
Current Mood: FRAGOR!!!
||Procyon Lotor Cellae - Hostis Mei Hostis
Aiden: That man is incredible.
Tarus: You're not joking. He's the king of tastelessness.
Aiden: It's good to know you. Don't worry about Ricardus. His words are like shit.
Tarus: Perhaps, but for the time being his words are true. At least about me.
Tarus: Do you have any objections if I accompany you and practice?
Aiden: I have no objections.

eh, it's nice to see some different styles of art and storyline with Poop's work but I'm really wishing we'd get back to more of the continuing storyline and art that we've all been loving for so long.
Are there any more Jeff-Kun updates on the way?
Procyon Lotor Cellae?
Not the best Latin translation, but then again, I really don't know Latin in the first place, hehe. Current Mood: geeky

JUST found this community through friends of a friend of a friend...you know how it goes =P
I have just loved this strip right from the start. Yes, it takes forever for new strips to come out, but it is SO totally worth the wait.
And, as a bonus introduction thing a NEW (okay maybe not that new) strip by Poop, filling in once again for Jeff-kun.
Personally, I just love the last panel. Not to mention this is like reliving high school all over again XDhttp://www.raccoony.com/closetcoon/closetcoon/strips/closetcoon49.jpg
October 27th. We need two more strips dammit! =P Current Mood: giddy
